What you can expect to learn in this CNC woodwork course<\/h3>\n

This is the second level of our computer-controlled CNC woodworking course, so the prerequisite is the first level CNC of course. Or if you have had an introduction someplace else for CNC machines, you can start on this course. If you have any questions about your level of education, then you can contact us directly and we can direct you.<\/p>\n

This course will concentrate on calibration of the machine in respect to the computer. Once the CAD file has been created in 2D or 3D then it must be translated into machine code and given to the control module which translates that into movement for the machine. We will teach you how to pilot the machine, calibrate the machine, you’re going to use the cut and launch the machine code to cut your piece.<\/p>\n

The goal of this course is to make you autonomous on the machine to explore it later with a membership within our workshop by yourself. Depending on what course you’ve taken before, this course could include a refresher course on CAD drawing and g code preparation. This means that even if you’ve forgotten the first course you have a chance to jog your memory in the first part of this second course. After the second course you should be autonomous on the machine and the CNC software for all two-dimensional projects. Time permitted this course could include an introduction to the world of 3D CNC sculpture and 3D CNC modeling with advanced CAD software.<\/p>\n

About the equipment used in this course<\/h3>\n

The equipment used on this course is the same as the first level of CNC woodworking equipment so you’ll be using the CNC machine described in the first course, but we will be introducing tools and table tie downs. The machine will be either a Badog Artisan 22, Class1 or a Badog X3 milling machine and the software will be Badog CAD CAM solution. Time permitted we will be looking at 3D Cam software that will allow you to take a model that has been developed in a 3D environment and transform that into G code so that the computer can send it to the machine where your project can be cut.<\/p>\n

You’ll be supplied with the tool to understand how to set a zero on the machine so that the machine is calibrated with the computer. You’ll also be supplied with tie downs for the machine so that we can secure the peace to the table either by using screws or bolts or a system of tie downs.<\/p>\n
