What you can expect during this course
This course is designed for people who want to learn the absolute basics of using a computer-controlled cutter (CNC) machine. Starting from the beginning of “what is a CNC” the student will learn all about the inner workings of an actual CNC milling machine then learn how to design parts and pieces with powerful but simple 2D computer aided design (CAD) software. By the end of the course the maker can work a machine by himself, cleaning and maintaining the machine, designing pieces and simple parts, transforming them into g-code (machine instructions) and placing and cutting the project into wood or plastic. The course includes 3 hours of practical work where the student can design a predefined part and cut it using the techniques described during the course.
With this course you will be able to draw 2 dimensional plans and transform them into machine code to be cut on a milling machine. You’ll be using Badog software to draw your conception easily. This introductory course gives you the knowledge to draw simple 2D objects with the use of a computer four CNC milling machines.
Goals: Introduce the world of CNC and to give the absolute basics to use a CNC machine for simple 2d projects.
CAD CAM software that is easy to use
It is easier than you think to learn CNC
About the equipment used in this course
CAD software has been around for a long time and makes it easy to make 6:00 and prepare files to be cut on a CNC milling machine. There are lots of software names that are free on the Internet but we’re using an in-house program that makes it easy to enter the world of CNC. CAD programs normally replace find by vine operation and line by line programming.
In the past this was done painstakingly by an operator of a CNC machine and usually took a lot of time. But with advancements in computer technology CAD programs have been readily available to the public and have been widely used in hobby situations as well as scholastic environments. This course allows you to dive into this world of virtual prototyping and lets you talk directly to the machine using two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings.
