A heat press is a machine with an electronically heated silicone surface, called a platen. It works like an iron you would use to iron clothing. The difference is the combination of pressure, plate and temperature control. This ensures even heating of the textiles that you are making. The platen is lowered down onto the surface and locked down for a couple seconds. The exact time depends on the materials being used. Heat presses also feature a timer that controls exactly how long and at what temperature the item will be pressed at.
