What you can expect to learn during this course

In this advanced course in woodworking that uses the first two courses as a basic source of information. This course will be more practical than theory as it will include many different projects to allow you to practice the first two courses and refine your skills. We will not be using computer-controlled equipment, but we will be using power tools such as planners, routers, drills, and drill presses to help you finish your projects.

Because this is a practical course, we will introduce many different projects for you to hone your skills and practice to understand better the world of carpentry. As with most of our other courses the goal of this course is that you are autonomous regarding the equipment and tools so that you can come in and use our shop with a membership autonomously without any instruction from us. That means that we will give you the confidence that you need to attack woodworking projects that may seem impossible to achieve.

At the end of this course, we will also introduce the next step in carpentry and woodworking, which is using computer-controlled equipment to program digitally our conceptions. This means that once we program our files, we send them to a computer-controlled machine where it is cut with precision so that we can assemble it precisely. These machines are called computer controlled milling routers.

About the equipment used in this advanced woodworking course

As with our first two carpentry introductory courses, we will be using hand tools as well as small power tools such as routers, planers, drills, and saws to treat our pieces. We will also be using presses and benches and joiners to help us through the process. The student should already have a good knowledge of these tools if they want to take this third course, you know the woodworking series.

You’ll have access to our shop and all their woodworking tables to press or glue large flat objects or even small ones. If any special work needs to be done, we can operate the CNC computer-controlled milling routers for you so that you don’t have to take the course. This is of course time permitting on our woodworking day.
